Introduction

Capernwray Bible school offers a very practical course in "Bible Training and Preparation for Christian Service" The purpose is to encourage and assist students:

To come to know the indwelling, risen Lord Jesus Christ
To understand the written Word and its revelation of Christ through careful study of the Scriptures.
To come to understand God's will for their lives.
To develop their God given abilities so that they may become more effective members of the body of Christ -- His Church.
To discover and prove in everyday experience the reality and relevance of the Christian life as Christ Himself is allowed to work in and through their lives by His Holy Spirit.
To gain a working knowledge of the Word of God so that they are better equipped for daily living and Christian service.

 

Ministries

 

Much emphasis is placed on the practical outworking of one's personal faith in Christ. Students are assigned to a local church for regular involvement. One week in every term is spent off campus co-operating with local churches in evangelistic outreaches.

This takes the students into schools, youth clubs, home groups, community visitation etc. Additional training will be taught in accordance with each student's involvement in these activities. How to do God's work in God's way. Ministry with children, youth, adults and the elderly .Knowing how to adequately study God's Word

Areas of training taught and evaluated

  Learn how to write a Bible study
Learning how to lead others in a Bible Study.
Being able to lead another person to receive Christ as Lord and Saviour.
Being able to encourage another believer in their walk with the Lord.
Being able to give a clear personal testimony, in various situations.
 

Course Information

General course outcomes

Students will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the Bible. This will include general overviews as well as more detailed knowledge of specific books, themes, doctrines and characters. The students should be able to study the Bible effectively for themselves after the course and be able to teach others in small study group situations. They should also be able to demonstrate the relevance of the Bible for today's world cultures and defend its importance in an apologetic sense.

Students will be able to demonstrate personal spiritual formation. This forming of Christian
character will be shown in their response to community living in an international setting. They should be able to offer a stable life-style and a mature understanding of human nature and God's purpose for humanity. They should display respect of others and a servant attitude to others.

Students will be able to demonstrate an ability in a range of ministry skills. They should be able to present a clear personal testimony to their commitment to Christ. They should be able to lead another person to understand how to become a Christian. They should be able to encourage another Christian in their spiritual formation (Discipleship). They should be able to participate effectively in a range of ministry programmes (e.g. youth work, Sunday school teaching, etc). They should be able to understand the purpose of the church and be able to contribute to the life of their church on completion of the course.

Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the world of missions. The students should have a basic knowledge of the Biblical basis of missions and an understanding of some of the issues involved in cross-cultural missions. The students should also have a knowledge of a range of mission organizations.

Pastoral Code of Practice.

Capernwray Bible School has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Ministry of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website.

IMMIGRATION: “Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website.

ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES: Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE: The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the Accident Compensation Corporation website.

MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE: International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.

This course is registered with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and Capernwray is registered as a Private Training Establishment (PTE) with accreditation and approval to offer this course.
